Compare styles, materials and glass packages side by side until the fit is right for your rooms, your budget and your goals. The product-line comparison below is the place to start.
3. Prepare your home for install
Before install day we walk you through a short checklist - furniture pulled back, treatments down, a clear path to each opening - so install day is watch-it-happen, not scramble.

ViewLux Window Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
ViewLux window installation in Dallas typically runs $275 – $550 per window for a full replacement install, and we can usually match your failed part or complete window same-week, not same-day. Most Dallas homeowners discover the need when a window suddenly won’t close, drafts through a corner that used to seal tight, or a sash drops when you let go. The failure point is rarely the glass itself. It’s the frame, the balance, the sash mechanism, or the weatherstripping that has finally given out after enough Texas heat cycles.
A quick note before we get deeper: Meridian Windows and Doors Dallas is an independent installer. We are not affiliated with ViewLux, but we stock ViewLux-compatible installation components and have installed and replaced their product lines across Dallas – Fort Worth for years. We also keep parts for PGT, CGI, and CWS on hand. Elliot Vance founded this company on the principle that every measurement gets checked twice. That matters enormously when you’re matching a replacement part to a window that has been sitting in a Dallas opening for ten or fifteen years.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To
ViewLux builds a few primary window families, and the installation path is different for each. The most common lines we see in Dallas homes are the 6000 Series single-hung and 8000 Series casement lines, along with a smaller number of 7000 Series sliding windows. Each of these uses different balance systems, different hinge geometry, and different weatherstripping profiles. Getting the wrong series part is the single most common error we correct on replacement installs. The window label helps: look for a small white or silver sticker on the inside of the frame, usually on the top rail of the lower sash. It will list the series number and sometimes the manufacture date. If the sticker is gone, measure the visible glass width and the overall frame height, and bring those numbers with you when you call.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket decision: ViewLux OEM parts are the cleanest match, especially for balancers and sash locks, where the tolerances are tight. For weatherstripping, glazing beads, and exterior stops, a quality aftermarket profile from a Texas distributor often performs just as well and costs 20 – 30% less. We’ll tell you which is which before we quote. We don’t play a game where the part gets marked up and the story changes at the door. The price goes on paper before we start.
One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: ViewLux changed their balance shoe design on the 6000 Series around 2015. An older shoe will not seat in a newer frame, even in the same window. If your home in Plano or Richardson was built before 2015 and you’ve got a single-hung that won’t stay up, you likely need the older style shoe, and we keep both on the truck. That’s the kind of detail that saves a second trip.
Signs Your ViewLux Window Installation Is Failing
- Sash won’t stay open, or drops hard when released. That’s a failed balance spring or a worn balance shoe. The spring holds tension against the sash weight; once it snaps, the window becomes a two-handed job and a finger-pinch waiting to happen.
- Draft you can feel with the back of your hand around the frame edges. Weatherstripping on ViewLux windows is a foam-filled vinyl that compresses permanently after five to eight years of Dallas heat. Once compressed, air moves through and your AC bill notices.
- Visible daylight through the corner joints or where the sash meets the frame. The frame has racked slightly out of square, which is common when a Dallas home’s foundation shifts. The window itself is fine; the installation around it is not doing its job.
- Condensation between the glass panes. The seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. That’s not repairable; the glass unit gets replaced. Good news is the frame usually stays put.
- Window operates fine but you can’t lock it without forcing the handle. The keeper or the lock has shifted out of alignment over thousands of open-close cycles. On ViewLux casements, the lock strike is a small T-shaped metal piece that often walks loose and needs re-seating, not replacement.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
For a ViewLux window installation in Dallas, here’s where pricing lands based on what we actually see on job sites. These are installed numbers, parts and labor together, not a parts-only tease:
- Full single window replacement (6000 Series single-hung): $275 – $420 installed
- Casement replacement (8000 Series): $380 – $550 installed
- Balance shoe and spring swap only: $45 – $90 per window, plus the service call
- Weatherstripping replacement around the full perimeter: $30 – $60 per window
- Insulated glass unit replacement (seal failure): $140 – $260 per sash, depending on glass size and low-E coating
The price changes based on glass package, frame material condition, and whether we’re matching a color or profile that requires special ordering. What does not change: the price is written down before we touch the window, and it does not move at the door. Every installation carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the work fails within that year, we come back at no charge. No fine print about labor exclusions. That’s The Garrison Standard, and we have not bent it since 2009.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely check yourself before you pick up the phone. Wiggle the sash gently and see where movement is sloppy. Look for a missing screw in the lower keeper. Push a dollar bill between the sash and frame and see if it slides freely, which tells you the weatherstripping has collapsed. Those are good diagnostic notes to have when you call, and they cost you nothing but five minutes.
Where DIY goes sideways is on balances and springs, especially on the larger single-hung units. ViewLux balances hold real tension, and a slipped block under load can take off the tip of a finger. That is not us being dramatic; it is the most common window injury in the trade. We will not give you a step-by-step on a loaded balance over the phone. What we will do is send a background-checked, uniformed technician who resets the spring the right way, with the right tools, for a written price you approved before the job started. Call (325) 309-2639 and tell us the series number from the frame label if you can find it. If you can’t, the measurements will get us there. Measure it right the first time, and the rest of the job takes care of itself.
FAQs
Frames typically last 20 – 25 years, but the moving parts and seals have shorter lives in the Texas climate; balances often go at 7 – 10 years, and weatherstripping at 5 – 8 years because 100-degree summer days bake the vinyl until it loses its shape.
Yes, in most cases, the balance, seal, or hardware is the failure, and that’s a repair, not a window replacement.
A single window swap usually takes one to two hours onsite, and the full written quote takes about fifteen minutes before work begins.
We keep the most replaced ViewLux components on the truck: balance shoes, springs, locks, keepers, and common weatherstripping profiles, so most Dallas repair calls are resolved in one visit; special color or glass orders take longer and we tell you up front.
